Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA, Acrylic)

Product Features

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET):

  • Properties: PMMA is an engineering plastic that can replace glass with properties such as high transparency, UV resistance and light weight. It is as transparent as glass with up to 92% light transmission, but lighter and easier to process. It is resistant to UV rays, so it has a long lifetime in outdoor applications. Although it has a hard structure, it can be more brittle than glass against impacts and withstands temperatures up to around 80°C.
  • Areas of Use:
PMMA is used in many areas such as skylights and roofs in construction and architecture, illuminated signs in the advertising industry, headlights and lamp covers in automotive, laboratory equipment in medical devices. It is preferred over glass when transparency and aesthetic appearance are required, but it is recommended to be used with care as its impact resistance is limited.

With these features, PMMA is frequently preferred in applications where aesthetics and functionality are at the forefront.
